Under 18's accepted to Kent Youth League,
Darren Finlay appointed as Manager......
Hythe Town FC
and Hythe Stars and Stripes FC are very pleased to announce the launch
of a new Under 18's team for the season 2011/12. This is the
culmination of a year’s worth of preparation from both clubs, and is
the first jointly managed project between the two. The
team
has
successfully
applied
to the Kent Youth League for the coming
season, and we have also appointed a highly qualified manager with
years of experience in the game at the highest level, Darren Finlay, to
run the team.
Martin
Giles
(Secretary,
Hythe
Town
FC) said: “The fact that we are still well
within the first year of our partnership with Stars and Stripes and are
already applying for a team in the top age group of the County's senior
youth league shows how committed we all are. In Darren Finlay we have a
man with real experience of top football up to European level and this
will help any youngsters with the right attitude to progress in the game.
It has been a great season for Hythe Town FC after
nineteen years trying to get back to where we are now, but the good
news keeps coming.”

Porter Swoops For Blackman......
Scott Porter
has wasted no time at all in adding Ryman League experience to his Kent
League winning squad, signing twenty-seven year old striker Lloyd
Blackman from Ryman League South club Whitstable Town.
Blackman started
his career as a professional at Brentford, before injury meant a drop
down to non-league football. His footballing C.V. includes spells at
Scarborough Town, Chelmsford
City, Cambridge City, Farnborough, Woking, Crawley Town, Maidstone
United and Margate where during the 2009-10 season he scored fourteen
goals in twenty-three Ryman League Premier appearances. Welcome to the
club Lloyd!

Hythe Town Manager Scott Porter is delighted to announce the
signing of striker Simon Austin from Ryman Premier League neighbours
Folkestone Invicta.
"What a great signing. To get someone from a Ryman Premier

Safety Net Associates Kent League
Manager of the Month for February.....
Hythe Town Manager Scott Porter has
been named Safety Net Associates Kent League manager of the month for
February. Porter
guided
Hythe to three wins out of three in the league, Hythe beat Sevenoaks
2-1,
Sporting Bengal 8-0 and Greenwich Borough 2-0. They also beat Sevenoaks
in the
quarter-final of the Premier Division Cup to progress through to the
last four.
Hythe have also won the Premier Division goals of the month award for
the most goals scored. Congratulations to Scott and the 1st team squad!
Safety Net Associates
Kent League
Manager of the Month for October.....
Congratulations
to
Scott
for
winning
this
accolade.
As
the
Kent
League
website
commented
-
'He
guided
Hythe
to
the
first
round
of
the
F.A.
Cup,
the
first
time
a
Kent
League
club
has
achieved
the
feat
in
more
than
fifty
years.'
The
league
also
mentioned our two 'notable scalps, winning at
Ryman League Concord and then defeating Blue Square Bet South Staines
at Reachfields.' The website concluded 'They also progressed in the
F.A. Vase and the Kent Senior Trophy, and despite not playing a league
game given their cup interests, Porter was certainly a worthy winner.'
October Player of the
Month.....
The first
team recipient in a clearly highly notable month was, fittingly, club
skipper, Dave Cook. He provided inspirational leadership, on and off
the pitch, and scored two key F.A. Cup goals, against Concord and then
Staines. At the same time, it should be noted that there were many fine
contributions from throughout the squad.
For the
reserves, manager John Underdown has selected George Mortley. He
commented - 'George is a strong player who improves with each game, he
can be utilised in many positions.'
Youth Set-up News.....
We are
pleased to announce a major step forwards for youth football in the
town with the phased coming together of Hythe Town Football Club with
the Stars & Stripes Club. The two clubs, with the Seniors based at
Reachfields and the Youth at South Road and Hythe Cricket & Squash
Club, will soon be able to cater for footballers from the under-six
level right up to the semi-professional Kent League. Photo and more
details to follow under our new Stars and Stripes section - CLICK HERE
September Player of the
Month.....
It was a
busy month for the first team, with six matches. Things improved as it
went on, with four goals in each of the last three matches. There were
plenty of consistent performers and a fair bit of debate about the
player of the month, but in the end it went to Greg Smith. Greg has
really cemented his place at right-back this season and seems to have
got better and better, and is always an attacking threat with his
crosses as well as pacey in defence.
For the
reserves, Manager, John Underdown has selected young right-back, Harry
Stevens - 'Harry is a young player who has created a lot of interest
from the first team management and coaches.'
August Player of the Month.....
It was a
pretty satisfactory first month to the season. Opening day defeat, but
then wins all the way, two in the league and two in the cup. Two
newcomers had particularly good cases for player of the month. Brendon
Cass scored in four of the five games and looked sharp up front, while
Ronnie Dolan joined us from Ashford, missed the opener, and then made
an immediate impression in midfield with his workrate and quality. It
was pretty good in all other areas of the team as well and so there was
considerable debate, but in the end it was decided that the award
should go to Ronnie.
