Mickelborough
& Byrne Return & Ruddy Arrives
Hythe Town
FC are delighted to announce three excellent new
signings ahead of Saturdays Ryman South fixture
with Corinthian-Casuals. It is a warm welcome
home to the familiar faces of striker Gary
Mickelborough and winger Kieran Byrne, along
with the signing of experienced goalkeeper Dean
Ruddy. Gary, aged 26, re-signs from Ryman South
side Whitstable Town, and will need no
introduction to supporters who witnessed our
historic Kent League Championship win last
season. A versatile forward with plenty of pace,
Gary played a key role in the title win with
twelve goals and seventeen assists, and in our
run to the F.A. Cup First Round Proper at
Hereford, where he became the first Kent League
player to score at that stage of the F.A. Cup in
over fifty years. He was also part of the Under
17's Great Britain Athletics Squad, previous
clubs include Folkestone Invicta and Bromley
Green.
Kieran, aged 26, rejoins us
after leaving the club at the end of last season
to take a break from the game and spend time
with his family. He has recently enjoyed a short
spell with Kent Invicta League side Ashford
United, where he scored a series of goals from
dead-ball situations. Kieran also played a major
role in our success last season with twelve
goals and five assists, and was also involved in
our F.A. Cup run, appearing in the starting
line-up at Hereford, previous clubs include
Folkestone Invicta.
Goalkeeper, Dean Ruddy,
aged 29, signs from Ryman South side Worthing
via a short spell with Redhill. Dean hails from
Chicago, USA, and appeared for Horsham YMCA in
the Ryman South during the 2006/07 season,
before signing for Dover Athletic in the summer
of 2007.
He went on to appear against us, in the infamous
F.A. Cup victory for Hythe over Dover, then
managed by Gillingham manager Andy Hessenthaler,
Jimmy Dryden also lined up against us that day.
Dean also works for Soccer Elite FA, who run an
invite only Advanced Academy where talented and
committed young players have the opportunity to
play friendly matches against professional
opposition. Previous clubs also include Lewes
and Chatham.
Welcome
(back) to the club Gary, Kieran and Dean!
