Player Profiles

Scott Porter

Manager, age 32

Scott was promoted from assistant manager in the summer of 2009. He played at Gillingham as a youngster, in the same side as Jimmy Bullard. He has also played for Folkestone Invicta and Hythe Town.





Clive Cook

Assistant Manager, age 51

Clive was an apprentice at Crystal Palace. He has been Assistant Manager at Ashford Town and Whitstable Town before managing the Ashford-based side Bromley Green in the Kent County League. He became Scott’s assistant in the summer of 2009.




Martin Chandler

Player/Coach, age 28

Martin was with West Ham United as a youngster and has played for his local club Folkestone Invicta and Herne Bay. He is now in his second spell with Hythe, rejoining in the summer of 2009.







Mark Lane

Goalkeeping Coach

Mark joined the club during the close season primarily as goalkeeping coach, a role he previously held at Ryman North club Thamesmead Town. Mark also has valuable experience from his time managing Whitstable Town in the Ryman South.




Kieron Mann

Goalkeeper, age 24

Started his career with Folkestone Invicta, before playing for the University of Chichester and Worthing United. He is now in his third season at Hythe and won all three Player of the Year awards in the 2009/10 season.

Dean Ruddy

Goalkeeper, age 29

Signed from Ryman South side Worthing via a short spell with Redhill. Dean hails from Chicago, USA, and appeared for Horsham YMCA in the Ryman South during the 2006/07 season, before signing for Dover Athletic in the summer of 2007. He went on to appear against us, in the infamous F.A. Cup victory for Hythe over Dover, then managed by Gillingham manager Andy Hessenthaler. Also works for Soccer Elite FA, who run an invite only Advanced Academy. Previous clubs also include Lewes and Chatham.


Greg Smith

Defender, age 23

Greg made the right-back position his own last season, after joining the club from Whitstable Town at the end of the 2009/10 campaign. He has also played for Ashford Town.

John Walker

Defender, age 27

John is a versatile player that can cover a number of positions. Now in his sixth season with Hythe, he joined us from Folkestone Invicta where he made his way up through their junior sides. John is our second longest serving player with 183 appearances in total.

Aaron Lacy

Defender, age 30

Signed in the close season after starting thirty-seven games for Margate FC in the Ryman Premier last season. Aaron signed for Margate in February 2010 after over six years with Maidstone United. A versatile player who started his career with Gillingham and has also featured for Lordswood and Chatham Town.




Pat Kingwell

Defender, Vice-Captain, age 27

Pat joined us in December 2007 and won all three Player of the Year awards for the 2008-09 season. He has previously played for Ashford Town and had a spell with Conference side St Albans City. Winner of last season's Supporters' Player of the Year trophy.

Tom Parkinson

Defender, age 20

Tom agreed to join in the Summer from Burgess Hill Town after his loan spell from Maidstone United was made permanent, therefore he played in both the Ryman Premier and Ryman South last season. Older brother Jack plays for Blue Square Bet South side Welling United.




Nick Reeves

Defender, age 24

Signed just weeks after playing against us for Maidstone United in the opening months of the 2011/12 season, who had to release the promising player due to budget constraints. Signed for the 'Stones' in the Summer from Sittingbourne, where he had won the 'Player of the Year' award for the previous season. Nick's former clubs also include Dartford, Beckenham Town, and a brief spell with Leatherhead of the Ryman Premier.




Ashley Porter

Defender, age 23

Ashley is the brother of manager Scott Porter, and has come through the youth system at Hythe. A versatile player who can operate anywhere along the back-line.

Dave Cook

Midfield, Captain, age 27

Dave is the son of our assistant manager Clive Cook and joined Hythe in December 2007. He has also played for Whitstable Town, Ashford Town and Folkestone Invicta. Dave has been Hythe’s leading goalscorer in two of the last three seasons, and last season shared the Manager's Player of the Year trophy with Craig Thompson.

Ronnie Dolan

Midfield, age 19

Ronnie joined us at the start of last season from Ashford Town, after that club folded. He instantly became a regular in midfield and has won a number of Man of the Match awards. He also works as a coach for Brighton & Hove Albion’s Football in the Community scheme.

Nick Barnes

Midfield, age 28

Signed from Ryman Premier side Hastings United just after Christmas last season, before playing in every game of the second half of the season.  Has enjoyed an extensive playing career including spells at Tonbridge Angels, Maidstone United, Dartford, Ashford Town, Margate, Concord Rangers, East Thurrock United, and Walton & Hersham.

Taser Hassan

Midfield, age 20

Promising young attacker who joined the club shortly after the start of this season, has spent time with several professional clubs including David Beckham's L.A. Galaxy!




Kane Rice

Midfield, age 22

Quick and skilful winger, joined the club from Ryman Premier side Horsham FC. An Eire international from U14 to U17 levels, Kane began his career at Crystal Palace and Cambridge City before moving on to Maidstone United. Played a major role in VCD Athletic’s promotion to the Ryman League in the 2008/09 season, previous clubs include a spell with Dover Athletic in the Conference South, Maldon & Tiptree and Chatham Town.


Lee Winfield

Midfield, age 29

Lee has made 265 appearances for the club, more than anyone else in our squad, having made his debut for Hythe Town in December 2002. He was previously with Folkestone Invicta. Influences the game with his excellent passing from any of the midfield positions.

Kieran Byrne

Midfield, age 26

Rejoined club midway through this campaign after leaving the club at the end of last season to take a break from the game and spend time with his family. Played a major role in our championship success last season with twelve goals and five assists, previous clubs include Ashford United and Folkestone Invicta.

Brendon Cass

Striker, age 28

Won both the Hythe Town and Kent League Golden Boot last season, with 37 goals in all competitions, also won the Website and Players' Player of the Year trophy. Started his career at Gillingham, moving on to Tonbridge, Dartford, Chatham Town and Folkestone Invicta. Brendon also won the Ryman Division One South Golden Boot with Dartford in 2006-07.

Craig Thompson

Striker, age 26

Craig has played for Maidstone United, Faversham Town and Folkestone Invicta, from where he joined us in January 2010. He scored 11 goals for us in less than four months to end his first season, and last season shared the Manager's Player of the Year trophy with Dave Cook.

Jimmy Dryden

Striker, age 31

Folkestone Invicta's all time top goalscorer joined us shortly after the start of this season. Brings experience and the ability to also play in midfield in our first ever season in the Ryman League. Scored 138 goals during his time with Folkestone, and also had a spell for Dover Athletic for whom he was top goalscorer during the 2008/9 season, scoring the goal that clinched Dover the Ryman League South Championship.



Richard Sinden

Striker, age 32

Signed for his second spell in a Hythe shirt in October 2011, having previously joined the club from VCD Athletic in the 2005/6 season, going on to score 24 goals in 36 appearances. Joined from Faversham Town, following a successful three year spell where he won the Kent League Premier Division Championship in 2009/10, before continuing as part of the Salters Lane squad in the Ryman South. Previously spent four years as top goalscorer for Maidstone United, during their time in the Kent League. 


Gary Mickelborough

Striker, age 26

Re-signed from Ryman South side Whitstable Town midway through this campaign, a versatile forward with plenty of pace. Played a key role in our run to the F.A. Cup First Round Proper at Hereford, where he became the first Kent League player to score at that stage of the F.A. Cup in over fifty years. He was also part of the Under 17's Great Britain Athletics Squad, previous clubs include Folkestone Invicta and Bromley Green.
