IT'S
THE BIG ONE!!!!!!!!! This
Saturday brings Paul Fisk's biggest game of his Hythe
managerial career. Performances have been mixed since the
title slipped out of our grasp, however injuries have been
avoided and recovered from, and Fisky has almost a full
squad to choose from (the exceptions being suspended Tom
Adlington and cup tied Damien Abel.) So bring as many
friends and family as possible, it's only a short trip to
Folkestone, and make as much noise as you can - Cheer on the
lads as they attempt to secure Hythe's first silverware in
over 10 years!!!

12/04/08:
Hythe's title dreams shattered by injury and suspension.
Against an improved Erith and Belvedere side, away from
Reachfields, and struggling with injuries and suspension,
Hythe's title surge came to an end on a depressing afternoon
in Welling. 47 goal striker Buster Smissen, goalkeeper Paul
Hyde, 1st choice full backs James Gregory and Tom Adlington,
and forward Joe Neilson formed a list of five 1st choice
players unavailable to Paul Fisk for selection in a game
Hythe had to win to stay in the title hunt. With no
disrespect to the players who stepped up from the bench and
returned from injury this was always looking like a
potential banana skin for Hythe. Two goals in each half from
the Dere's put Hythe to the sword with Lee Winfield scoring
from a 20 yard free kick, and Pat Kingwell's man of the
match performance the rays of light for the Hythe
supporters. Hythe now enter a vital two week period in preparation
for their league cup final at Cheriton Road on May 3rd. It
will be a fine balancing act for Fisky and his backroom
staff as they attempt to bring players back from injury, but
at the same time give match time to their potential
replacements. Final score 4-1
WELL
DONE LADS - AFTER COMING 6TH LAST SEASON YOU TOOK US TO
WITHIN TWO GAMES OF THE TITLE THIS TIME ROUND - WHOEVER

ON A HIGH - ON MAY 3RD WE WILL BE BEHIND YOU ALL THE
WAY!

Gregory scoops player of the month!
James Gregory played in all six games during the month
of March, and was a commanding force from left-back. He had
an excellent performance away at Holmesdale and is a good
supplier from deadball situations as well as an ever present
voice of encouragement. As such, he was a popular and fairly
unanimous recipient of the March first team
award. |

OFFICIAL CLUB STATEMENT FROM CHAIRMAN PAUL MARKLAND
''At
the end of last season I set our 2007/8 objective as
becoming one of the top sides in the Kent League. We've
achieved our aim - in fact Hythe Town have been amongst the
promotion contenders for several months, although I hadn't
expected this until next year. Consequently we decided to go
for our Step 4 ground grading. Reachfields was a Southern
League stadium in the early 1990's so the work required was
as not as extensive as that facing other clubs - however the
list was still long. After much hard work over the last four
weeks by our small band of hard working volunteers I am
delighted that we have just received the green light from
the FA/Ryman ground inspectors. It's now down to the players
- this season or next!''
