Nickname: Gregs.

Date of birth: 23rd March 1982.

Birthplace: Margate.

Occupation: Sports-Link manager.

What does that involve?: Working with young people in Thanet on a diverse range of sports such as football, surfing, ten-pin bowling. I’ve been doing it for three years.

Marital status: Co-habiting.

Previous clubs: Ramsgate, Hampton & Richmond Borough, Southall Town, Ramsgate again, Sittingbourne.

What brought you to Hythe: Buster got in touch initially, then Fisky, selling the ambition of the club to me.

You’ve already played in several positions for us. Where have you normally played?: I was actually a striker for Kent and South-East England schoolboys but have moved backwards as I have got older.

Favourite team other than Hythe: Tottenham.

Favourite ground other than Reachfields: Chelmsford.

Least favourite ground: Mile End Stadium [home of next week’s opponents, Sporting Bengal – ed]. I played there for Ramsgate when I was about 19.

Favourite sport other than football: Golf.

Favourite film: Braveheart and Wedding Crashers.

Favourite holiday destination: Ibiza.

Favourite food and drink: Nando’s (spicy chicken dish).

Favourite music: UK garage and a bit of Marvin Gaye.

Describe yourself in up to five words: Laid-back, jovial, relaxed.

Who is the most famous person you have met: David Beckham. I was temping in a hotel in West London when at University and the England team came back there after the 2002 World Cup.

Most embarrassing moment in football: Missing two penalties in an Under-18s cup final – we still won though.

Tell us something we didn’t know about you: I scored for South-East England boys (Under-19s) against Australia.

And are you enjoying it here?: Very much. There are no Billy Big Times and everyone is pulling in the same direction. We just need to hold our nerve.
