Club News 2022/2023

The trialist who scored the penalty against Tunbridge Wells was former Aveley attacking midfielder Shad Ngandu. 


After the game he put pen to paper to sign for the Cannons for the new season.  


He has also had spells with Great Wakering Rovers, Brentwood Town and Waltham Abbey. 

The club are delighted to announce the signing of two new players. 


Firstly coming from Sittingbourne is Harry Miller, who scored in pre-season friendly at K Sports. He is a promising midfielder who has also had a spell at Herne Bay.


Also joining is defender, Jason Fregene who has been with us during pre-season and has impressed. He has previously had spells with Gravesham Borough, Hollands & Blair, Sittingbourne and Sevenoaks Town.

Manager, Steve Watt brings us some more news on preparations for the new season.


"Just an update on how things are going, as well as new additions we have made to the club in the past couple of weeks.


We had our 1st training session back yesterday, the players looked very good. A few players were missing due to other commitments but we still had over 20 players in attendance.

Another familiar face has agreed to come back to the club. Another young hungry player who will be a great asset to us. 


Marcus Goldsmith 

Marcus was released from Hastings last week and he has agreed to join us for next season's campaign. 


"We still are looking at various players who are on trial, particularly in forward areas. So hopefully some more additions will be made before the start of the season.  


I’m very happy with how the squad is taking shape and think we are in a very good place at this point in pre season. Only need a 1/2 more to complete the squad."




Micky Phillips 

Micky who was managing the U23s at Maidstone for most of last season has agreed to come in and be part of the management team. As a first team coach.


Lewis Williamson 

Lewis has agreed to come in as GK coach next year. He is Morgan Williamson’s brother, so knows the club very well and again will be a very welcomed addition. " 

The club are pleased to announce the return of popular player-coach Frannie Collin as well as Nathan Elder who will assist coaching as and when his work commitments allow.


Also making a return after a longer absence is striker Johan Caney-Bryan who has followed assistant manager Darren Blackburn over from Sittingbourne where he won the club's Golden Boot award last season.

The club are delighted to announce the return of Steve Watt who is once again in charge at Reachfields. 


Former Sittingbourne manager Darren Blackburn will also join as part of the backroom staff with the rest to be announced over the next couple of days.

The club can now announce that Ethan Smith has joined the Cannons for the new season. The young 18-year-old midfielder came through the Gillingham Youth Set Up before a short loan spell with Sittingbourne at the end of last season. He is the brother of Hythe captain Liam Smith.


Leaving Hythe is striker Riley Alford who has joined Deal Town in the Southern Counties East Premier Division.


Summarizing other summer activity at Reachfields, Tunbridge Wells goalkeeper Aaron Lee-Wharton will be joining Hythe Town for next season. The 23-year-old has also had spells with Sheppey United and Ashford United.


The Cannons will also have six-foot seven-inch centre-back Lex Allan in their squad next season. The 22-year-old was with Sittingbourne last season where he started his career. He did have a spell with Sheppey United. 


Ashford United central defender, Jack Steventon will be in the line-up as he decided to sign for the Cannons having played 39 games for the Nuts & Bolts last season. The 23-year-old also had spells for VCD Athletic, Hastings United, Sittingbourne and Herne Bay.


The club also announced that the following players are retained for the 2022/ 2023 season. They are Liam Smith, who will be club captain, Connor Cheek, Ollie Gray, George Sibley, and Morgan Williamson and three players will be returning to Reachfields. They are Alex Flisher (from Sittingbourne), Jarred Trespaderne (from Ashford United) and Josh Stirman (from Corinthian).


Tom Walmsley has moved onto Hollands & Blair, Henry Newcombe will be a Deal Town player next season with Nico Cotton, Jordan Sarfo and George Crimmen also moving on.   


Alex Brown has also decided to move on and will be in an Ashford United shirt next season.

Hythe Town are pleased to announce that as well as sponsoring the back of the shirts for next season, The Everest Inn Hythe @everestinnkent have also agreed to sponsor the programme for next Season as well.

Reachfields’s Commercial Manager Peter Young released the news today that B.Keogh Construction Rail Division have agreed to become Hythe Town’s shirt sponsor for the coming season, the deal with Brendan Keogh was finalized over the weekend at the ground. The front of Hythe Town’s shirts will bear the logo and name B.Keogh Construction – Rail Division for 2022/2023 season.


Also, Peter also announced that the back of Hythe Town’s shirts will be sponsored after successfully negotiating a deal with local Nepalese & Indian Restaurant - Everest Inn Hythe, @everestinnkent
