Marsden Arrives At Reachfields
Hythe Town FC are delighted to confirm the signing of experienced playmaker, Darren Marsden, from Ashford United.
The twenty-eight year old midfielder arrives at Reachfields with a proven Ryman South track record, his previous clubs including Whitstable Town, Faversham Town, Folkestone Invicta and Herne Bay.
Darren began his career at Gillingham, where he spent seven years and featured for the reserves side, he would later play for Margate in the Ryman Premier division.

Welcome to the Cannons Darren!
Will Graham Appointed 1st Team Coach
Hythe Town FC are delighted to confirm Will Graham as our new 1st Team Coach. Will, 29, began the season as Manager of Whitstable Town, a position he left behind fairly early into the season,
however a return to the game in a coaching role is something he has been exploring since.
The UEFA A licensed Coach was in the Hythe Town dugout on Tuesday night and took the warm-up for the players before a game they went on to win 3-0, ironically at Will's former club, Whitstable Town.
As a player he served Margate, Dover Athletic, Ramsgate (during their time in the Ryman Premier) and Herne Bay before a serious injury curtailed his playing career at the age of 24 - Read More
Beckingham Resigns From Hythe Town FC
Hythe Town Football Club have announced the departure of joint manager Tony Beckingham, leaving Clive Cook in sole charge.
Beckingham and Cook were appointed last month. Assistant Manager Mark Lane continues in his role although coach Darren Anslow has also left.
Chairman Paul Markland said, “Clive and Tony came to us as a managerial pairing based on their longstanding friendship so it’s a shame that things haven’t worked out, however it’s probably better for all concerned to realise this early on. We now have a more conventional manager/assistant manager set up. We thank Tony for his support and wish him and Darren all the best for the future”.
There are several candidates being considered for the post of 1st Team Coach and Hythe expect to fill this position soon.
Former Skipper Returns To Reachfields
Cannons Squad Begins To Settle
As management duo Tony Beckingham and Clive Cook approach the end of their fourth week in charge at Hythe Town, and with the arrivals and departures beginning to slow down somewhat, it is probably as good as time as any to take stock of the squad situation here at Reachfields.
We would like to take this opportunity to officially welcome Tony and Clive’s latest two recruits to the club, Damien Ramsamy and Ben Wilson. The latter making his debut on Tuesday night in the 2-1 win over Tooting & Mitcham United - Read More

Speaking to the website, 1st Team Manager, Tim Dixon, made the following statement –
“We are disappointed to announce that Stuart Zanone has decided to leave the club. Stuart has stated that he has found it hard to play at Ryman South level and with his work and girlfriend further north, has found it very hard to commit. He did say that he would be taking a break from football, but since then we understand that he has signed for Greenwich. We wish Stuart all the best for the future.”
Club Secretary, Martin Giles, added – “This has been a strange time at the club with a number of arrivals and departures. Players will always come and go for both good and bad reasons and thankfully at Hythe Town this happens without seven or eight pages of anger being expressed on a forum.
At the same time though, I realise that our regular supporters will at times want to know a little more information then they are getting from a brief club statement and I am more than happy to chat with any of them before or after matches at Reachfields, or even at away games.”

All of us at Hythe Town FC are devastated at the news of the tragic death of Henry Fulcher in a road accident on Tuesday evening.

Our thoughts go out to his family and friends losing someone so close to them at such a tender age.

"A cheerful smile and a willing pair of hands"
Not everybody may have heard of Peter Murdin. Both he and his wife Phyllis were keen supporters of the club, but Pete decided that with retirement looming he would spend part of his spare time helping out at Reachfields on and around the pitch. He therefore became one of those valued few who are most active when the ground is at its quietest.
Tragically Peter's retirement was all too short and he passed peacefully away at the Pilgrim's Hospice on Thursday 23rd April. His lovely wife tells us that the times he spent at Reachfields were very happy, even when those in charge did not always pick the right team! We do hope that Phyllis will continue to come to games for she will be most welcome.

On Saturday night Hythe Town FC held their annual End of Season Presentation Evening. It marked the end of a real rollercoaster of a season, with the club going through another transitional year both on and off the pitch.

“It's getting to the exciting time of the season for many clubs, teams are fighting it out for promotion and others are battling it out down at the bottom. On Wednesday night, Burgess Hill lost their first league game of the season, at home to Whyteleafe. It really was a monumental effort from Ian Chapman and his team since they beat us 1-0 on the opening day of the season.
Since then, there have been a few changes to our squad as we constantly try to improve as a football club. Bewick The Next Ex-Cannon To Return!
Hythe Town FC are delighted to confirm the return of midfielder, Sam Bewick. Sam re-joins the club from our opponents on Saturday, high-flying Faversham Town. The highly-rated youngster originally signed for the club last summer, but had to sit on the sidelines for almost the entire season as he completed his rehabilitation from knee surgery. Originally Sam came to the club from Herne Bay, who he had joined in the search of regular 1st Team football, leaving behind the ultra-competitive squad of then play-off winners Maidstone United.

Can YOU Help?
Coming at the end of the season, the timing of the following article may surprise some, but read on to find out why the timing is very important.
Hythe Town FC Confirm New Manager
Hythe Town Football Club are delighted to announce Tim Dixon as new 1st Team Manager. Tim’s appointment follows hot on the heels of the announcement of Trevor Kennett as new Chairman, as a new era begins at Reachfields Stadium.
Tim, 48, was chosen from a high quality shortlist, established after the club received over twenty applications for the vacant managerial position at Reachfields. He brings a wealth of experience to the role, his previous position being 1st Team Manager at local Ryman South rivals, Ramsgate.
Tim was appointed as manager of the Rams in April 2012, as successor to Jim Ward, stepping up from his role as assistant, along with coach, Darren Beale, who will also become part of the new managerial set-up at Reachfields.
During his first full season in the Ryman South he finished just one point off the play-offs in 7th position in the table, before leaving the club in an almost identical position in February this year.
In his not too distant past as a member of Dover Athletic’s back-room staff, it was our new man who gave the thumbs up to ex-Gillingham manager and then Dover manager, Andy Hessenthaler, to go ahead and sign a certain Shaun Welford. Tim also had a spell in charge of the reserves during his time at the Crabble.
Our regular supporters may recall that the Rams got the better of us both home and away last season, but we promise not to hold that against our new manager! Finally, we would like to take this opportunity to both congratulate and welcome Tim and Darren to the club, as we look towards an exciting new future at Hythe Town FC.
Hythe Town FC Announce New Chairman
Hythe Town Football Club are pleased to announce the appointment of Trevor Kennett as our new Chairman with immediate effect.
Trevor, the former chairman of Herne Bay FC, will bring a wealth of football experience to Reachfields.
Mr Kennett said “I am personally very much looking forward to being part of the new Hythe Town family and to a positive Ryman League campaign next season.”
The club have been delighted with both the volume and quality of applicants for the vacant position of 1st Team Manager, and fully expect to make an appointment early next week.
Hythe Town FC Begin Search For New Manager
Hythe Town Football Club has parted company with manager Scott Porter after failing to agree a playing budget with the board for next season.
Director and Secretary Martin Giles said “Last season, in common with many other clubs we had to reduce our playing budget in mid-season which is something we have never had to do before. We had experienced an overall drop in sponsorship and were then hit with the extremely wet weather which affected our cash flow and lead to midweek games and consequent reduced attendances. Whilst we hope that things will improve or that we will enjoy good cup runs we cannot rely on that happening and must set a realistic figure that we know we can maintain throughout the season. It is still ahead of many others but it was not something that Scott could accept.”
The Secretary continued, “During Scott’s five seasons as manager Hythe Town FC has gained promotion to the Ryman League, won the Kent Senior Cup and become the first Kent League Club to reach the First Round Proper of the FA Cup for 53 years, meeting Herford United, then in the Football League. Scott never finished lower than 8thin the Ryman South League and reached the play-offs in our second year in the league. We thank Scott for all he has done for the club and wish him well in the future."
Hythe Town Football Club President and former Chairman Paul Markland issued a statement following news of Scott Porter’s resignation as Manager after five seasons.
“The Hythe Town directors have acted responsibly in setting a budget for next season, as requested by the then Manager, at a level they know the club can guarantee. I understand this figure is less than last season but is still higher than that of many Ryman South clubs.
The club, under my chairmanship, took a gamble in appointing Scott as manager five seasons ago, as he often acknowledges, and he has repaid this by achieved good results since, albeit with higher than average playing budgets during my tenure. Scott clearly felt he could not operate with a lesser sum and has exercised his prerogative to look elsewhere. I wish him well.
It is unfortunate that Scott may not have chosen to bow out as gracefully as I would have expected and has talked with the current players who potentially may leave en-bloc. I suspect a number would have liked to be with the club next season. If true, this will not endear Scott to other chairmen, which would be unfortunate as he has a lot to offer any new club.
Now another manager will come in and rebuild the Hythe Town side. Personally I would like to see a number of the current players make their own decision to play at Hythe Town next season, but if they don’t then others will take their place.
Hythe Town Football Club moves on and is in a position that must be the envy of many other Ryman clubs. Importantly, the playing budget is already fully covered by known income and sponsorship for the whole of next season, so there will be none of the mid-season wage cuts typical at other clubs and forced, for the first time ever, on Hythe Town along with many others, last winter.
The appointment of a new chairman is imminent and there is always the potential for new sponsorship when there is a change of chairman or manager.
The club is debt free, has a good, well maintained facility with a long lease, is again investing in improving the playing surface this summer and has a committed group off the pitch, although like any club, more help is always welcome. There are some interesting medium term plans and discussions regarding broadening the governance of the club by splitting the board functions between Operational and Business groups, with some additional Directors.
I am optimistic that the club will continue to build for the future during this period of managerial transition.”

A spokesman for GSE Group, said: “As a local business supporting our local football club, we have been proud to be associated with Hythe Town this season and look forward to continuing that link in the coming year."

“We want the directors, players and supporters to be reassured that our commitment to supporting Hythe Town remains as it was on the day we signed the sponsorship agreement.”
