Ashley Miller Returns!
Hythe Town FC are delighted to confirm the signing of twenty year old striker, Ashley Miller, from Maidstone United of the Ryman Premier.
This will be Ashley's third spell at the Cannons, but on this occasion he arrives as a permanent signing, after two previous loan spells from Gillingham.
Talking to the website this morning, 1st Team Manager, Tim Dixon, was clearly delighted with his new addition - "I’m really pleased to announce the signing of Ashley Miller from Maidstone United. Ash needs no introduction to Hythe fans as he had a loan spell here from Gillingham a couple of seasons ago."
Tim continued - "I have been looking for another attacking option and Ash has a good eye for goal and is a very creative player, supplying many assists for his team-mates. Darren, Steve and I have all been lucky enough to have worked with him before (on loan to Ramsgate) and he knows how we like to do things."
"We will be hoping that he plays a major part in turning our fortunes around, so we can climb up the table. I’m sure you’ll all join me in welcoming Ash to the Cannons and he comes straight into
the squad for Tuesday night's home match against Whyteleafe."
Ashley made his professional debut for Gillingham against Wycombe Wanderers in November 2010, at the age of sixteen.
Shortly after his professional debut, he was scouted and then linked with a move to various Premier League sides, most strongly Liverpool, however a move never materialised.
He made his first start for Gillingham in March 2012 in a home game against Barnet, and scored his first senior goal in Gillingham's 4-3 defeat to Crewe Alexandra three days later.
Of course, it also gives us another excuse to dig out this beauty (right) from Ashley's time in the Gillingham developmental squad!
He restarts his Hythe career on fourteen games and four goals. Welcome back to the club Ashley!
