Hythe Town FC Board Statement

At a Board Meeting held on Thursday 2nd June it was decided to withdraw the Reserves side from the Kent League for a minimum of one season. The main reasons for this is that in entering the Ryman league we are committed to a heavier fixture list and extra costs, and we need to concentrate our financial and human resources on what will be a new experience for the club.

To run a reserves side is a thankless task and John Underdown has performed admirably, but ultimately the responsibility is in the Board's hands and only the Board will have the true and overall picture of the total costs and the possible benefits. With the new Under 18's side starting this season we believe that the club is demonstrating that it's link-up with Hythe Stars and Stripes will be an enduring one.

It may well be that in either one or two seasons the Kent league or another league will provide a platform for these lads, perhaps even in the form of an Under 21's side. During the coming months Board members as well as Management will closely monitor the situation both at the club and in the county, with a view to deciding on our policy for next year.
