Laurence Harvey remains a 'Cannon' for the 2015/16 season!

Hythe Town FC are delighted to confirm the signing of Laurence Harvey for the 2015/16 season! Laurence's decision was announced to a very happy clubhouse at Saturday night's end of season presentation evening, fresh off the defender walking off with two of the main trophies, Players' Player of the Year and Supporters' Player of the Year.

Talking to the website today, 1st Team Manager, Tim Dixon said - "I am delighted that Laurence has re-signed for next season, Laurence has become a hugely popular member of the squad and played a major role during the last campaign. He seems to be improving every season and the club are delighted that he will be at the heart of the defence again next year."

The twenty-four year old centre-back turned in the most appearances at the club during the 2014/15 season, fifty-two in total, only missing two cup games to rest minor knocks. He also played a massive part in one of our most enjoyable wins of the season, the 1-0 win away to Guernsey, with Laurence playing through illness as our only recognised defender on the day.

We also caught up with Laurence himself, who said - "I am really pleased to sign for Hythe Town again for next season. The season just gone was obviously frustrating in terms of league position, but we have a great group of players with a lot of quality, with a few good additions to the squad I believe that we can push for a play-off place next season."

"Hythe is a great club, with a great management team, great board and great supporters and I can't wait to get going again next season." Although once reminded that staying on meant those dreaded pre-season runs on Hythe's stone beaches, he wasn't as happy as a moment or two earlier!

Laurence re-signed for the club from Whitstable Town last summer, where he had been impressing for the two and a half seasons since he left Hythe, having originally signed for us during our first season in the Ryman South.

The young defender first broke into Ryman football at Ashford Town and also includes Sittingbourne on his CV. The highlight of his short footballing career was his time at Maidstone United during their first campaign in the Ryman Premier.
