More New Signings
Four more players have signed for the club in the last week. Probably the most familiar name is forward, Sam Conlon, who re-signs for the club from SCEFL side, Ashford United. Sam was originally our ‘super-sub’ (hopefully he won’t mind me saying that!) in the 2010/11 season, when we won the Kent League and with it promotion to the Ryman League. He is a quick player who can also play in a variety of positions and was Ashford’s top scorer last season with fifteen goals, despite often playing in defence.
We are also delighted to confirm that for the first time we will start the new season with two products of the ‘Hythe Stars & Stripes’ youth section, Jamie White (left) and Harry Carr (below). Both midfielders and both players who have really caught the eye of Tim and his team.
Jamie was in last season’s Under 18s side, but was actually selected for the 1st Team squad on thirteen occasions, making six lively substitute appearances. Harry was the captain of last season’s Under 16s and it is a real compliment to both himself and his coaches that he has been involved in all of our pre-season fixtures at such a young age, including two appearances in the starting XI.
The final player to introduce to our supporters is former Whitstable Town youngster, Jordan Wells, pictured above with Darren Beale. Jordan scored two goals on his debut, in the home friendly against Canterbury City. He is a highly-rated striker, who has been well thought of and known by all of our pre-season opponents so far.
In fact, he signed for Whitstable from Lordswood at the start of last season. He is also a player that the management team were already very familiar with, before their appointment at Reachfields. Congratulations to Harry and Jamie, welcome back to Sam and of course welcome to the club Jordan!
