New Vice-Captain Laurence Harvey will be back in action for the first game back at Reachfields on Tuesday 21st July

Well the lads are back in training (picked the right week for the weather didn't they!) so please read on for full details of our pre-season campaign.

It is very late in the day, but we have managed to fill the empty slot in our pre-season programme, meaning the Cannons will be back in action this Saturday! Thank you to Canterbury City FC for stepping in to become our first opponents of the new season, this Saturday 11th July. Please note this game will kick off at 11.30am at the following address: Simon Langton Grammar School for Boys, Langton Lane, Nackington Road, Canterbury, CT4 7AS.

On Wednesday 15th July, Kent County League side, Kennington will be the opponents when a Hythe Town side made up mainly of trialists and Under 21s visit, the venue for this fixture will be Towers School, Faversham Road, Kennington, TN24 9AL. We then make the short journey to our old Kent League rivals, Deal Town on Saturday 18th July, where amongst other friendly faces we are likely to come up against one of last season's Cannons, Ryan Philpott.

The first game of the 2015/16 season to take place at Reachfields will be on Tuesday 21st July, and anybody who is aware of our opponents will know it will be a decent test, the visitors being Kent Invicta League Champions, Hollands & Blair. The club will start the new season in the SCEFL, after effectively being a Step 5 club in waiting for several years. It wouldn't be a surprise to see Paul Piggott's strong outfit pushing for two championships in consecutive seasons.

On Saturday 25th July we will be hosting Essex Senior League side, FC Romania, before two really eye-catching fixtures end our preparation for the new campaign. Despite facing our Ryman South rivals, Faversham Town the night before, Jay Saunders has kindly agreed to bring a Maidstone United side down to Reachfields on Wednesday 29th July. The Stones are of course preparing for a season in the Vanarama National League South, and any side the reigning Ryman Premier Champions select is likely to provide a stern test.

The final game before the real stuff begins will be a trip to our old friends and neighbours, Ashford United, who as we know are only a SCEFL side by name. Paul Chambers has assembled an exciting squad full of former Ryman South talent as they aim for the SCEFL title and with it promotion to the same division as ourselves.

We doubt Cannons supporters need reminding, but is likely it will mean us facing former Reachfields players such as Pat Kingwell, Buster Smissen, Danny Lye, Ollie Finch, Gary Mickelborough and of course the recently departed duo of Michael Yianni and Craig Thompson!
