Scott Captures Danny Lye Signature
Hythe Town FC are delighted to confirm the signing of former Maidstone United player Danny Lye.
Danny asked to be released from the Stones over the weekend, the defensive midfielder seeking the regular first-team football he wasn't getting at the Gallagher Stadium.
Scott moved quickly to secure the signature of a highly-rated player, that many Ryman South clubs were expected to be interested in.
Talking following the announcement of the player leaving the Stones, his former manager Jay Saunders said - “I am disappointed that Danny is leaving. He wants to be playing regular football and has had offers from Ryman South clubs where he’ll get that chance."
He continued - "He’s been great for us over the past three years and has never let us down. He’s a great character and will be sorely missed in the dressing room.”
Danny's signing is a key one following the unexpected departures of Rhys Lawson (work commitments) and Tom Hickman (taking a break from football), he is expected to go straight into Tuesday night's squad when we host Leatherhead, kick-off 7.45pm.
The 32-year-old joined the Stones from Faversham Town in November 2010 and went on to make 99 appearances, scoring twice. He played an important role in the final matches of last season when the club won promotion via the play-offs.
Danny's previous clubs also include Welling United, Ashford Town, Tonbridge Angels and Gravesend & Northfleet, welcome to the club Danny!
